Technical Planning:
Shooting Diary:
January 8th:
- Film the scenes in the graveyard. This scene will contain both characters, but mainly focusing on the protagonist who has to move on from the recent event of her friend passing away, the graveyard scene will convey the struggle that people face when having to come to terms with grief.
- We plan to finish filing all these scenes on this day as it will give us a longer time period if we need to re-film regarding the circumstances of school and the coronavirus and how it may affect our actors, if they were to come into contact with the disease.
- Start early in the day so that we can get a lot of different shots in that we can use later on when editing, also to film before it gets dark outside, otherwise the shots will look too different when trying to put them together, it also gives us more time to try different angles.
- The locations that we will use today, is the graveyard, this will be good for the music video, as the natural surroundings will be incorporated into the music video, while being respectful to those who have passed away, we will do this by not messing around or including any personal information that may be incorporated on the gravestone itself, this will be done by us monitoring what can be seen on camera, this will be shown through the camera shots and angles we think would be best for this situation.
- The graveyard, is available to the public, meaning we should not have to worry about getting permission to film there, and using their facilities to our advantage. This location will be useful, as most of the "props" will be there is already such as the gravestone, and the lightening will be depending on the weather that day.
January 9th:
- Film the scenes where both characters are needed, this relates to the piano, baking and dart scene, as this will all be based in roughly the same location, making it easy for the rest of the group, as we only need to film in one day.
- The actors will need to bring three different outfits, which they will need to change into to help portray the idea they have been friends for ages.
- On this day, we will film a variety of shots by allocating a certain amount of time per scene, making sure we get spend an equal amount of time on each scene rather than rushing through most of them, if we spend to much time on certain scenes.
- We plan to finish the need to film over this weekend, as then we will have longer time spent on editing, or if we need to re-film certain parts of it, we do not have to rush, fitting it in.
- The main locations that will be used for these scenes, is the living room, the kitchen and an outhouse which has been turned into a "bar". All these locations are set in the same house, meaning there is easy access to use them. The different locations, will help provide different stories of what the two friends were doing together at that specific time such as baking together or messing around with the piano. As this location belongs to a member of the group, we do not need to worry about trespassing or private property as they have given us permission to use their belongings from which ever angle, as they don't mind their house being shown in the music video.
Makeup, costumes and props considerations:
- Most of the props that we will need are already available such as baking supplies, darts, gravestone and the piano. This will make it easier for us to focus on the actual filming part of the music video. We have got ideas as to how we will maximise the props we already have and what we may potentially need to buy such as flowers for the graveyard scenes.
- The props will help show the story between the two friends and how they are bonding, this will be shown alongside clips from he graveyard, the character will be holding a prop which represents "death" in a way as she is placing it onto the grave story, but her actions will be matched in the clips at the house, with other objects such as a dart. The flower that we plan to use will be red as this has connotations of death and heartbreak, which is what the friend is going through as she places it down in a bed of flowers.
- The costumes will be everyday clothing, however in the cemetery scene she will be wearing all black as this represents death and grief, which will be conveyed with this costume choice. Ideally the everyday clothes will be bright to show that the characters are happy, creating an uplifting atmosphere between the actors and the audiences. This will be similar to the makeup choices as both actors will be wearing everyday makeup, as it shows how this tragedy can happen to anyone on any day and that it affects people in different ways.
