Costume + Makeup

Makeup:

The makeup for the music video will be based around an everyday look, meaning there will be minimal amounts of makeup to help bring a sense of normality to the music video and more relatable. Makeup in pop genre music videos are two extremes either very minimal and basic or bright, thick colours with a very cake-based look. We decided to go with a more minimalistic look, with using little eyeshadow, the reason we didn't use no eyeshadow was to help bring out both of the characters eyes, so that they stand out more in the project. We did use a bit of face makeup, when filming more depressing scene's, by making the actor seem more sad, to help convert her sadness and grief over the screen. I have created a mood board on Pinterest of the different makeup styles that we are going to use as inspirations. The tools needed for the makeup look we are planning to create is just a few brushes, and the makeup that our actor wears on a daily basis, as it will be custom to her skin type, reducing the risk of any issues to arise in this area. Some popular artist who have done similar things with their makeup include: Beyonce, Adele and Selena Gomez as they go for a more basic, natural looking makeup style to help make themselves more relatable to their audiences, as people like to recreate the styles, and with the more natural looking styles, their fans feel like they are more achievable. The mood board below is the inspirations we used when creating our makeup looks for both actors. Makeup is a vital factor in music videos as women, regardless of the concept, stereotypically must look attractive towards me, by reaching the male gaze, to attract the male audience members. As the song would not necessarily, reach that demographic potentially the music video will get them to watch and listen to the lyrics of the song.

Costume:
The clothing that the actors will be wearing, will be everyday clothes, as the events that are happening are things that happen on daily basis, however, the characters will be wearing brighter clothing for when they are together. The character is wearing darker colours, than the other, is symbolising that she is the one who is going to pass away, in the music video, and we can see the sudden change in outfits, when we are in the cemetery scene and she is wearing all black to connate the meaning of grief and loss for which the girl is suffering from. The reason we are choosing for our character to look similar but also different is to show how close they are in their friendship and what this impact will have on the girl. As you can see from the mood board, we are hoping for the actors to wear jeans and a nice top, as this tends to be the outfits that teenage girls where around todays current trends. The two actors will be wearing similar clothes but of different styles to help represent their friendship of that they are different people, but with similar characteristics. The costumes of the actors are to represent the storyline, which is two friends hanging out, when one suddenly passes away, which correlates to the colours of the clothes the girls are wearing and how it drops from bright colours to dark colours, to represent the sadness that has arisen from the sudden event of the friend passing away.
