Reflection

 Target Setting:

What planning do you need to do

  • My group and I need to start to plan who is going to be in our music video. We need an artist and many side characters to help build the storyline.
  • We also need to distinguish what are song is going to be as we have two options we are currently debating between. Both are of the pop genre.
  • We are likely to use many props and different costumes to help show the storyline across a few days, as our music video is based around a flashback.

Group roles

  • Director - Abi + Maddie
  • Social media page - Abi
  • Digipak - Maddie
  • Film - Abi
  • Editing of music video - Maddie

Reflection:

How did the research go and what did I learn:

I found a lot of new information with my research, such as all the different stereotypes and conventions that happen in each genre. I also learn that over time the history of a music video has changed massively, such as, what is allowed in a music video and how story narratives have changed. The music videos have changed along with culture and focused on popular things going on at the time. I also learnt a lot about digipaks and how different audiences interact with music.

Artist rely a lot on social media at the moment when promoting their music as it is the place where majority of their audience look to see if there are any new projects coming out. With using social media the artist can use videos to show snippets of their music videos or concerts to help share the experience that comes when listening to their music.

How has my ideas developed.

My ideas have changed slightly, such as the narrative and the song choices, but the genre is still the same, Pop.

The new song that my group and I have chosen is fourth of july by sufjan stevens

  • Girl and a guy are hanging out
  • The girl is dead - this is shown by her fading in and out of the scenes
  • Show him by himself then when he is with his gf.
  • Show her death at the end - car crash
