Branding

Branding and its importance:

  • Branding is very important when an artist is trying to become successful in the music industry. In order to accomplish this, you will need to not only have a clear image as an artist, but a plan in place to maintain the integrity of that image. This is the primary reason why having a solid brand as a musical artist is such an effective way to get your music noticed.
  • Branding is more about connecting with your fans in a unique way than it is about slogans and logos. Social media allows artists to reach out to consumers in a more authentic, engaging manner, eliciting strong emotional reactions that will ensure fan loyalty. From a large scale to small, cohesive branding is important for all artists.
  • Good branding reveals the artist’s style, interests, personality and aligns with their music, beliefs, and overall message. Whether its album covers, profile photos, website or merchandise, it’s important that artists establish a recognisable, interesting image with which to align themselves.

 Adele:
  • Adele's branding is very little. She mainly uses social media such as instagram as her main source of promoting her new album "30". Her instagram has a lot of information about her new album, and promoting her upcoming projects and events. 
  • She has a new instagram page (the only one she follows) called "adeleaccess", which is showing all the ways she has promoted herself to the world e.g., by using billboards,  magazines or talk shows such as Saturday Night Live. 
  • Her instagram does not follow a specific theme, however, for a 12 posts they are all containing information about her brand such as her new show - one night only or her new album/single.
  • Her social media is helping her create an image for herself and how she wants her audience to perceive her, which is more mature and experienced than other artists. 
  • She is trying to reach to the older generations by making her music relatable for adults, by making her music about divorce.

Little Mix:
  • Little mix use social media such a Tiktok, Twitter and Instagram as their main source of promotion, as their fan base is mainly the younger generation so they can create a better connection between them and their fans. 
  • They brand themselves as a young and fun band, by always bringing out new projects such as albums, concerts and music videos. Their new album is the main topic on their Instagram page such as using countdown till the album was released and now, trying to promote their audience to buy and stream their new songs. 
  • Their Tiktok page and instagram account include snippets of their new songs and promos of their new music videos, helping their audience get excited for the date of release for the projects being shared. There newest project is called "Between Us"


Harry Styles:
  • Harry Styles is trying to promote his tour at the moment. All his pictures on social media and in magazines are pictures from his tour, which has been going on for months. 
  • His brand is showing her personality, he is more focused on having an emotional connection with his fans rather than his success which is very rare for people within the music industry. 
  • He has over 40 million followers showing that his branding straggles re working to help promote himself to his audience.
