 Taste in Music

How my taste has changed

My taste of music has changed throughout the years, I have been interested in many different types of music ranging from Pop to Rap. Overtime, music has changed massively from Taylor Swift playing on the radio and now Kanye on Spotify, as new technologies have been discovered, new music has risen to the surface. There are lot more independent artist within the past few years. Throughout the years, my taste has changed and matured, especially over the past year, as there has been many different singers and songs coming to light, through independent artist being discovered on social media. Music has not just changed due to new artists but it has also changed as new technologies come out so artist can use more sound effects and autotune, to make their songs sound futuristic. I have liked to listen to a variety of different artists and bands. Some bands I have liked include: Oasis, Little Mix and One direction. Some artist I have liked include Lewis Capaldi, Oliva Rodrgio and Bruno Mars. I listen to different music genres everyday, so my favourite artist is changing everyday as it is due based upon the mood I am in.

Music I listen to now

Due to my music taste changing, the songs I listen to a vary between old songs all the way to the newest songs. The type of music I listen on depends on my mood, as the music I listen relates to how I am feeling. The current artist I am listening to is Lewis Capadil. His songs are well-known and famous all across the globe. such as Before you Go, another artist I am currently listening to at the moment is, Adele and other similar singers. There is also some Micheal Jackson thrown into the mix, as his songs are very catchy and everyone across the world loves his songs - they are also upbeat that make people want to dance his main song is Billie Jean - as the beat makes people want to move. There is no specific person I listen to as my music taste is changing everyday.

Music Industry Controversies

Within the music industry there have been many scandals and controversies between different artists and the public their record label, it ranges between Micheal Jackson all the way to Kanye dissing Taylor swift at the VMAS. Due to the music industry being watched and changing 24/7 artists can get caught up within it get into drugs and do actions that have bad consequences such as Britney Spears Breakdown in 2007. Music is everywhere. Today, we consume it and more efficiently than ever before. There are tons of new opportunities for musicians arising day after day. Everything grows quickly and unstoppably in the music industry, but a main issue that is very controversial is the fact that artists struggle to make money and only 10% of them become very successful. To earn a decent income, artists need to stream over 100,000 streams consistently, just so they get an income per month, however, this is only if they own the rights to their track, if not majority of their money goes to the label. A massive music industry controversial issue includes that women are made to be sexualised within their music videos, and album covers, as the management in music is dominantly men, this is a massive issue within the music industry, and it is being talked about all over social media, as female signers are starting to clap back at the negative and toxic messages that are coming across in their music videos.

How do artists sell their music?

The majority of an artist's revenue comes from touring, selling merchandise, licensing their music for things like television, movies, or video games, and partnerships or side businesses. Streaming is often thought of as the future of music and can provide artists with a nice source of income.
